Free Community Offering: Acupressure for Transitions

Sonouros x The Rested Revolution warmly welcome you to joining a free, 1 hour community offering co-hosted by Jamie Ni and Flory Huang. This virtual container invites us to honor ourselves and each other amidst transitions. While we are always in transition as living beings, we're acknowledging all shifts: the seasonal in our environments, and in relation the changing states within ourselves. There is much to harvest, celebrate and share at the same time there is also a lot to shed, grieve and release.

Through gathering in community to mindfully tune in and cultivate more resourcing to receive care for all our bodies, we’ll also experiment and learn about acupressure points that support this season’s organs and systems. Through the five seasons of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this season requires our attention specifically in the Lungs and Large Intestine— and we know that these are not exclusive from the rest of us neurophysiologically, mentally, emotionally or energetically.

This event will be hosted via Zoom with optional closed captioning and camera use for all attendees. All facilitation and cues will be verbally delivered.

Questions or requests? Tune in to our IG Live or get in touch. To learn more about Jamie and Sonouros, connect with her via Instagram and explore her website.

rest + realign with mindfully being well x The Rested Revolution

Rest%2BRealign_TheRestedRevolution2020_EventBanner.jpg

This experiential workshop has been designed to holistically restore your baseline. Let's get rested and realigned.

To rest: To cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.

To realign: To cause to form new arrangements or to have a new orientation.

mindfully being well and The Rested Revolution have created a 1.5 hr workshop to gather together for

  • constructive rest utilizing household props

  • mindfulness meditation practice

  • reflection and integration

  • movement for supporting the nervous system

Burnout can mean different things to people to different people. It can happen so slowly and insidiously that we slide to either end of the burnout continuum without really noticing.

For some, it’s the always-be-busy-never-stop-moving lifestyle. The hustle for conditional happiness and self-love in the form of an “If, then” statement.

“If only I make that next promotion, then I will be successful.”

“If I lose 5 pounds, then I’ll love my body.”

“If I finally xyz, then I’ll be happy.”

Sound familiar?

For others, burnout is a feeling of low energy. Let’s call it as it is: exhaustion. Where you just can’t. You care, but you just can’t find the energy for anything else. Maybe you can’t even articulate how you are feeling, and that’s OK too.

Wherever you find yourself on this continuum, situated in the context of COVID-19, anti-racism, and decolonization, we hear you and we are here for you.

Reflections on Past Events

“[…] rest, silence, and calm within doesn't necessarily come easy, nor does it present itself instantly when you give it space. Sunday felt like a journey that I wasn't anticipating or ready for. My partner and I took the sessions together, and realized that we haven't made space for silence in a long time. And when we did, tears. So many tears that didn't stop and felt misplaced which initially caused frustration, leading to many other emotions. But, the next morning and day felt light and spacious and calm and restful. It made me realize that sometimes the path to rest is a process, and that working through things makes space for that calm.”

— Tamar T.

“There is no limit to how much time I should take to care of myself in a day.”

— Anny L.

“Rest and recovery is important and takes time.”

— Sophia D.

Group + Team Facilitations

custom programming for interactive and experiential workshops focusing on specific themes and modules

Let’s collaborate and create resourcing for you and your community.

Virtual and in-person containers are available to book for 2022. The following themes and modules are frequently provided in group and team offerings of sizes ranging from as intimate of 5 people, up to 25. Costs are dependent on details associated with each session, get in touch anytime to explore! Custom programming includes and is not limited to:

  • Conscious connections to all aspects of ourselves, including our somatic, energetic and mental bodies, is cultivated through intentional practice. There is no wrong way to meditate; learn how to identify the most suitable practices for you right now and integrate the learnings beyond the session.

Our ability to be mindful influences our resilience in the face of conflict, challenge and crisis. Developing a relationship with MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) practices enable us to respond instead of react. At the same time, it also unlocks our joy and vitality because we’re able to be present with what is happening in the now.

  • Skin and spirit are not separate but in beautifully intelligent relation. Restorative yoga, a completely supported practice taught by B.K.S. Iyengar and later popularized in North America by Judith Lasater, is anchored in effortlessness. Using props, we support and welcome our nervous systems, muscles, bones and body into parasympathetic recovery states to move through the portal of resting. In this resting, we may experience a range of deeper levels of consciousness (including full sleep) as well as profound multileveled healing unlocked by the release of effort by our bodies.

  • It all begins within. Being attuned to ourselves determines our ability to respond to other people and circumstances outside of us. More important than having hundreds of solutions in tech, equipment or even rituals is to ask the right questions. When we ask the questions that matter, our maps of meaning eliminate distractions that drain our energy and we have an opportunity to choose integrity: aligning what we intend with impact actualized.

  • In communal discussion, we identify how internalized and external conditioning with our dominant cultures affect our ability to remember and be rested. Attendees are offered different lenses to examine what resting means and how it looks, feels, tastes, sounds and is embodied in life. Burnout, systems of oppression, cultural norms, trauma and relationship with self are part of these discussions in varying ways unique to the group/team. Sharing and reflection are encouraged and welcome as part of the power of healing and shifting, individually and together in community.
